Application of Double Roller Press Granulators in Snow Melting Agent Production
The application of double roller press granulators in snow melting agent production is a highly efficient and targeted dry forming process. It is particularly suitable for processing highly corrosive and highly soluble crystalline raw materials such as sodium chloride and calcium chloride. Its core advantage lies in the fact that the entire production process requires no liquid binder or subsequent drying; it directly extrudes powdered raw materials under high pressure, thus completely avoiding the fundamental problems of severe equipment corrosion and excessive energy consumption caused by moisture introduction in traditional wet processes, ensuring the durability and economy of the production line. In specific applications, raw material pretreatment and formulation plasticity are crucial. Raw materials typically need to be pulverized to a fineness of 80 mesh or higher, and the moisture content must be strictly controlled within a narrow window of 2% to 4%. Too low a moisture content results in a lack of basic bonding force between powder particles, making forming difficult; slightly high a moisture content easily adheres to the roller surface under high pressure, causing blockage. For brittle materials such as pure salts, a very small amount of organic fiber or special modifier is often added as a skeleton to improve the initial strength of the raw granules and prevent them from crumbling upon demolding. The de-icing agent granules produced by this process have significant performance characteristics: First, high hardness and low dust. Due to high-pressure densification molding, the granule structure is compact, making them less prone to pulverization during subsequent packaging, transportation, and mechanical spreading, effectively reducing dust loss of the active ingredients. Second, controlled release. Its specific flake or hemispherical shape can slow down the dissolution rate on the road surface to a certain extent, thereby extending the action time of a single application and achieving a longer-lasting snow-melting and anti-icing effect, making it particularly suitable for maintenance operations on urban roads and highways.
