Generation Development Group has confirmed a cybersecurity incident involving its subsidiary, Generation Life Limited, highlighting growing risks tied to third-party service providers in the financial sector. The breach, disclosed on 27 April 2026, was detected early and swiftly contained, preventing any spread to core systems or broader infrastructure.According to the company, the unauthorised access originated through an external vendor, though the exact provider and their operational role remain undisclosed. Importantly, the intrusion was limited to a specific segment of the network, with no evidence of system-wide compromise or fraudulent transactions. Core platforms continue to operate securely, and business disruption has been minimal.As part of its response, Generation Life immediately activated its business continuity plan and engaged external cybersecurity specialists to lead a comprehensive forensic investigation. The primary objective is to determine whether any client or adviser data was accessed and to fully map the extent of the breach. A dedicated support line has also been established to assist affected stakeholders.Notably, the incident did not impact other entities under the group, including Evidentia Group and Lonsec Research and Ratings.
