When selecting a pelletizer, buyers usually focus on moisture content, capacity, power, and price, but they most easily overlook a more fundamental parameter — the particle size distribution (PSD) of the raw material. PSD is more insidious than moisture: high moisture content is visible to the naked eye and can be felt by hand, while uneven particle size distribution often only becomes apparent when the pelletizer is running and the pelleting rate is low. Uneven PSD directly inhibits pelleting; large particles must be pre-crushed or screened, otherwise even the most expensive pelletizer will not perform as expected.
