ANZSCO to OSCA Transition: Australia's Classification Update

The Occupation Standard Classification for Australia replaced ANZSCO on 6 December 2024 following a two-year review by the Australian Bureau of Statistics. OSCA introduces 1,156 occupations, occupation-level task descriptions, and a commitment to regular updates that ANZSCO's largely static framework never provided. For skilled migrants, CDR applicants, and employers, the practical impact is gradual ANZSCO remains the operative standard for all migration processes until the Department of Home Affairs formally adopts OSCA, which is expected progressively through 2026 and into 2027.
